Yesterday was day 10 (yes, my posts are a bit off)!

Moksha Bloor West is my practice studio and must say hats off to them. They’ve added a word of the day to inspire each practice. Day 1 was commitment. Day 10 was opposites.

Opposites create a whole in many instances. Some mentioned during practice:

Breathe in, breathe out - one breath.

Back and front, up and down - a pose, a movement.

Yoga MO - ease and effort.

In addition to a word of the day, the classes are taught with personal care. Each teacher has their own style and own awesome expressions/opinions to take with you. Here are some standouts:

“Be still, as a compass”

“Yoga is 90% waste removal”

Be still, as a compass reminds me of effort and ease - still being the effort and compass being the ease.

Yoga is 90% waste removal reminds me I’m doing my body some good + my mind, my spirit.

So, how is my practice going? I’m I keeping up? Great & YES!

I highly recommend that everyone give it a whirl — just once. It’s helped me create a routine, one to look forward to, be inspired by, inspire others by… the list of benefits go on.

If I has to sum up the last 10 days to one word, I would choose peace. I’m at peace with myself, others, my environment — the world.

Peace out.

"Take the pace of nature, her secret is patience"

“Take the pace of nature, her secret is patience”

30 Day Yoga Challenge | Commitment

Commitment. I did it. A committed to myself for myself. One that will in-turn directly help others through self stability. A perfect paradox of self realization turned actualization.

You can do it too! Don’t let a stack of excuses stand in your way. Once upon a time excuses ruled my world and it got me nowhere – fast.

Any of these ditties sound familiar?

“If I didn’t have so much going on… people to please and work piling up then maybe”

“I’m exhausted and simply don’t have the time nor energy”

Or the forever promise to yourself.

“I’ll start tomorrow”

STOP! Make a COMMITMENT NOW.

Who’s more important to you than you? Airlines have it figured out: take care of yourself before you take care of others. Simple!

I started a 30 day yoga challenge – today was day 1. Well, technically day 2 for me but hey, who’s counting? Oh wait…

Anyway - some background: I’ve been practicing lightly for around five years. Throughout those five I’ve sat back and admired others ability to find time for that type of commitment. Find time? What was I thinking? Was I taking crazy pills? Nope. Deep down inside, my thoughts were full of doubt. Excuse after excuse lead to the eventual feeling of inadequacy.

“Why can’t I get my act together? Everyone else can!”

Man! Self deprivation got the best of me then but not anymore and never again.

If you couldn’t tell, day 1 was about commitment. Commitment to a practice and commitment in our daily lives. For me, the theme of commitment resonated. It thrilled me! I just made a commitment to me, for me for a wholesome 30 days.

Standout awesomeness from today was:

Going in with the world ahead of me – thoughts racing, reflecting, planning… to the point of noticeable physical side effects – then, POOF! I left with the world behind me – which put me first. Mission accomplished.

Everyone benefits from practice in their own way. Try one with commitment in mind. Everything is possible with a little practice and practice takes commitment.
